The Israelite Merchant

June 19, 1865, known as Juneteenth, marks the day federal troops arrived in Galveston, Texas, to enforce the Emancipation Proclamation and declare the end of slavery in the United States. It is celebrated nationwide as the “official” day of freedom for the so-called African American. But for the descendants of Judah, those who know their identity according to Scripture, this day must be seen through a different lens—a biblical one.

Was This the Day We Were Truly Freed?

The world says Juneteenth was our moment of liberation. But Scripture reveals that our captivity didn’t begin in 1619, nor did it end in 1865. The Word of the Most High tells us that we, the children of Israel, would be sent into bondage for our disobedience:

“And the LORD shall bring thee into Egypt again with ships, by the way whereof I spake unto thee, Thou shalt see it no more again: and there ye shall be sold unto your enemies for bondmen and bondwomen, and no man shall buy you.” (Deuteronomy 28:68)

Our ancestors were not simply enslaved due to colonial greed. We were sold into captivity as a consequence of breaking covenant with the Most High. Juneteenth is a date set by men, but our true freedom begins the moment we repent, return, and walk in obedience.

A Moment to Reflect, Not Just Rejoice

Judah must stop celebrating partial deliverance. Juneteenth should not be a time to merely grill in the backyard or wave flags of national pride. It should be a moment of deep reflection, repentance, and rededication.

True freedom is not granted by presidents or governments. It comes through returning to our Elohim—Ahayah Asher Ahayah—and obeying His laws, statutes, and commandments.

The Real Path to Liberation

Our liberty is not found in political proclamations, but in spiritual awakening. The Most High is gathering His people once again, and we are witnessing the dry bones rising in the valley.

Juneteenth reminds us that even though our enemies released the chains from our wrists, they never released the lies from our minds. We were told we were Black, colored, Negro, African American—but never told we were Israelites.

Freedom begins with truth. And the truth is, we are Judah. We are not just survivors of slavery, but chosen people with a kingdom assignment.

Juneteenth should not be erased or ignored, but it should be reframed. We honor our ancestors by returning to the covenant they were torn from. We don’t need another holiday; we need holiness. We don’t need permission to rise; we need to remember who we are.

This year, as Juneteenth is observed, let Judah reflect. Let Judah awaken. Let Judah return.

Because the time is far spent, and the true exodus is near.
